Slowdown

Two days ago I cut the leaf, secondary and tendril away from my biggest
pumpkin stem junction. I also cut loose the tap roots two feet in each
direction and set up my shade cover. I have seen little or no growth for
two days. The temp has been in the mid nineties for a week. Have any of
you experienced this slowdown when cutting the tap roots loose, or am I in
big trouble already??
