Cut and slice the leaf blade, I fear you will find borer frass. The
borer would now be in the main vine. I have several instances of this,
but can't always catch the borer. I would like to pour some thing into
the hollow of the leaf petiole (sevin??) to kill the borer. I would
then let secondary leaves grow to fill the canopy space.
I was told 15 years ago that clear winged moths seek weedy places to
lay eggs; thus pruning excess canes from blackberry is said to reduce
infestations by cane borer.
