Have you tried injecting your stems with beneficial nematodes? They attack
and kill borers, hatch out of their bodies, and go after others, and are
totally harmless to plants. Gardens Alive sells a new improved
strain....also, when applied into soil they go after countless other soil
grubs including the grubs of the cucumber beetle.
