Hello group,
Despite my best efforts to keep the vine borers at bay this
year with a systemic insecticide(admire), it appears these efforts have been
in vain. Although every bug on the outside of my plants are dead, including
cuke beetles,squash bugs, and others, the vine borers are thriving inside
the vines. I've been giving my plants 6ml. doses of this stuff every two
weeks for two months. Two days ago when they were first spotted I applied
10ml. in a half gallon of water. Still it doesn't appear to be affecting the
borers at all. My buddy and I removed over 15 of these yesterday. I know
there are still at least a few more out there. The overall health of my
plants are still good. Does anyone know of a systemic that will for sure
kill these PESTS !! I need something right away. Although my largest
pumpkin was a victim my Lloyd 935 main at 58" is still doing well and I want
to save it if I can. Beth Rado and John Prichard take note. I know you are
using this chemical as well. I was told by Bayer Corp. that they thought it
would work. I will talk to them today. BELIEVE ME we are going to talk !
