Scotty,
So sorry to hear the svb's have got you. Remember the reason I went
stumpless last year was that a fungus had started at the base and was
traveling up the main. I decided that if I let it go it would sooner or
later get the whole thing. I just radically took the first 3 foot of
main and 2 sides on each time side and hoped full the best. This year I
also have been borered and am currently fighting a fungus also.Nothing I
can do about it.
My thoughts would be how bad you want a pumpkin this year? I know I
guy in wis. that pollinated a fruit on August 7th and ended up 640
something so I would not give this season up yet. My 431 doesn't have a
fruit on it yet either but still trying!!
Try to get rid of the damage as best you can and then treat with
effected area with fungicdeand methoxychlore...ect.. bury it with some
dirt and forget it. Don't worry about something that it probably to late
to totally fix!! Just my thoughts!!
