Hi All,
I am leaving for Seattle today to be off to the Ohio Valley Growers Picnic.
Jack, Sherry LaRue, Lincoln Mettler, Kirk Mombert, and Myself will be there
in fact, and we all know at least three of those last names have grown 900
plus pounders, so anyone who will be at the picnic is sure to learn
something. As for me, well I can teach you how to grow lawn furniture (ala
the #789). To you Ohio people, I can't wait, and am looking forward to
having a blast.
The Pumpkin patch is far from having a banner year. Last year by Aug 11th I
had a #608 pounder (Scar) this year I may still be setting fruit. Lots of
abortions, blowups, premature maturation, poor shape, and the quitting of any
help what so ever in the patch has left my fingers worked to the bone and the
16 remaining plants are more than a project to say the least. I shall be
lucky to have a pumpkin to bring to a weighoff this October.
Take Care,
Brett The Pumpkinguru Hester
