We are located in Southern Worcester County,Massachusetts. No
way am I going to toot my horn about how the patch is doing(I'll surely Jinx us
for sure) but we've seen a lot of posts from growers from other regions about
troubles due to drought, and extreme weather conditions.
Is anyone out there doing OK?? Fruit setting, growing at
expected rates?? Unless you've left the list, from previous get togethers I
know folks from our area are here, lurking.(George & Erin, you
always contribute, I greatly enjoy your messages)
Personally speaking, we are 3 to 4 weeks ahead of previous
seasons (I am almost afraid to talk about it for fear of disaster striking),many
of the flowers we have pollinated have taken, and the Merit we applied to the
soil at the beginning of the season seems effective(no nasties chewing up the
vines) and since the great white hunter got rid of the varmint(and we put the
electric fence back up), that has been no more of a nuisance.
