Root Extension

I was poking around the hill this afternoon and adding some drippers to my
system. Just for fun I dug down about six inches and lo and behold - roots.
The plants have not really bent over and become vines yet, yet five feet from
the hill - a well developed network of the little white threadlike roots.
Reminded myself to avoid walking around, even on my boards so that the roots
will not be crushed.
I had forgotten how far out beyond the the plant roots go is there is water
available.

Verbum sapientiae.

BTW - Tomorrow I will be traveling to Newburyport, Mass. I hear that I will
run into a thunder storm. How do you guys in northern Massachusetts do it? My
hat is off to you - until it rains!
