LI,
Your temperature sensor should be mounted at leaf height. It should be shielded
from from solar radiation and have adequate air movement (you want to record the
air temperature, not how much the sensor heats up in direct sun light.)  Misting
controllers should use a combination of canopy, ambient temperature and humidity
readings to determine on/off cycles.
