AG susseptible at mid-30's temps?

Hello,

A week ago we had some cold overnight temps, down
to about 36 degrees. I would have covered the plants, but
didn't have time. Now, we're used to that here. In May and
September we flirt with mid-30's often.

What surprised me is that a few of my AG plants seemed
to suffer frost damage! This was a little disconcerting, because
other pumpkin varieties and my tomato plants survived the
night just fine. Is the AG at risk at mid-30's temps? In the
future I can protect them better in the spring, but I may never
be able to protect them in September when they are big.

Best regards, Cliff in Idaho
