Re: Return from Topsfield
Hello,
I have never heard of lightening strikes improving fruit crops, but one
thing does spring to mind.
A plant that has been damaged will flower/fruit more heavily to propagate
itself, in case it dies.
I grew up in North Andover which is adjacant to Topsfield, and I guess I
took it for granted never considering it a mecca. Even as a child I was
dissapointed it was so crowded (throngs, elbow to elbow), and you could
not enjoy anything unless your hobbies were pushing and shoving, or
ramming people with baby strollers.
One man's treasure, another's trash.
I can say that having lived on Plum Island, part of Newbury, that there is
nothing so awe inspiring a a heavy thunderstorm as it goes out to sea. To
watch those tremendous torches of lightening hit the water, and the
ocean light up where it struck was amazing. And to have the earth tremble
under your feet as each new wave came crashing down on the beach. It only
takes a few seconds of that to remind you how insignificant any man and
his problems are in relationship to the world around us.
Regards,
Tom
