So. Indiana Update
Hello All,
The update for Southern Indiana is WET! 2.5" rain Friday night and 1.5
this morning. One thing for sure,we definatly needed it haven't had much
time to water the regular garden. Not to worry, the "extreme gardening"
section gets watered as needed, daily when the heat's here. Haven't had a
problem with bugs to speak of,using Sevin since the begining and going with
Warrior 2 now for the SVB's. This rookie is having a bit of dificulty with
distinguising the vines, looks like a few main vines on the 859 Mombert.
Maybe I'm calling the secondaries mains?? They are big as the main in
diameter, coming out of it's wind protection first, super fast grower. Anyway
I am learning, and sure I will continue to learn. Here's how the patch is
doing so far;
Plant #1; A 859 Mombert growing like crazy-main is about 6.5 ft. with what
I will guess as secondaries are 2-3 ft. long. Huge leaves 18-24 inches this
is my fastest grower, showing the most growth daily.
Plant #2 and 3; Here I have two plants in the same hill, plan on culling
one of them. But this will be a tough decision. The 815 Mappes has came into
it the past 2 weeks with my fattest main, about 5 ft. long and 1-2 ft.
secondaries. The other is a 876.5 Lloyd, started out slow but is now catching
up with the 815. It has about a 4 ft. main with secondaries just now
showing. This will be hard deciding which one to cull in the near future.
The Lloyd is proven, but the Mappes is growing quicker, don't think the Lloyd
likes our heat.
Plant #4; Is a 749 Mombert, not growing as fast as the 859 but still a nice
looking plant with my largest leaves,24-26 inches. Main is about 5.5 ft.
with secondaries not as big or as long as the 859.
For those interested I will update my patch update on the IPGA site next
weekend, rather Jim will,I will just send him the pics. The address is
below, and come join us on Thursdays for chat,8:00 est.,I believe,I'm always
late! We will have another fine guest this coming Thursday, come by and see
who it is,if Brad don't tell everyone before than. If you were there last
week you already know who it is. Hey Brad, make them stop by the chatroom to
see who it is,keep it a mystery. Bye for now.
