If vines can be "held over" the winter, what is the difference of cloning?
There is no guaruntee that a clone would produce a pumpkin that was as
big, or bigger than the original plant anyway. There are too many
variables in plant, pollination, and conditions.
Don't forget cloning with plants can be as simple as putting a leaf in
water, to grow roots, and produce a duplicate plant. It also can be a
much more complex process with micropropagation.
I bet a really huge pumpkin could be grown via hydroponics, amd more power
to the person who succeeds doing it. That will give the grower total
control of nutrients and moisture.
Anyone ever try it?
