Pumpkin size!
Hi All!
We have one pumpkin alittle bigger than a basketball at this time. It is
growing on a primary vine about 13 ft from the stem. So far so good! We
lost three other pollenated pumpkins... two from little critters squirrels,
rabbits, chipmuncks, cat??? We hope that we will be able to set at least one
more on a vine. We are growing in a 15 X 20 Ft area. We have three
primaries hoping to set at least 2 more and cull one of them. We are using
styrofoam under the pumpkin any reccomendations on fertilization schedules,
pruning and pest control would be alot of help... We are NEWBIES! We will
tent the pumpkin this week for shade and we have been spraying the plant with
Sevin, Fish and Seaweed emulsion, and Peter's plant food. We are irrigating
using a half inch soaker hose buried 2 inches below the surface. Any advice
would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Backporch gardeners... In
