Hello.  I would stay with a 20-20-20 to around the first part of August.  I
would then change to a fertilizer that has a high amount of potash. Keep
secondary vines perpendicular to primary vines and pinch off all tertiary
vines. My opinion is that a 300 square foot patch is a little small. When
the vines have reach the edge of you patch or are as big as you want,  pinch
off the tips off all vines and bury them.  Might be a good idea to wait a
day before you bury them so that the end's will have time to dry before you
bury them. I use sevin and malathion.
