Re: Greer 1006 offspring color

Hi Bart...yes,the Hagerman 591 was a greenie from the 1006 Greer. Bob Wells
has grown squash from the 560 Brooks...my nieghbor had an orange one from
the 560 Brooks.I pollinated a 720Hester with the 560 Brooks(orange) and the
females from this 417Andrews pumpkin (In Bob well's patch and others) were
green in the beginning and slowly turned yellow before pollination. My
428Wells*sq. has green peas now....who knows what they will turn into! The
697ciliberto progeny has a reputation of starting green and changing early
on.My 502.5ciliberto91(father of 697ciliberto) currently has green grape
sized fruit .....perhaps the green comes from this one in the line since ITS
father was the 821Stellpflug*? Im hoping the 502 stays green ....but I'll
love it the same.
Speaking for squashers everywhere...i would love a 1006 x self green
seed...there arent any more 591hagermans left....perhaps you could keep a
single vine and self a fruit and run it around the border of the patch?
Personally...Id keep it as long as you can to see if it changes to yucky
yellow............Glenn
