RE: Fwd: Pollinated two more this morning....WhoooHooo!!!

Ric,

It seems the problem you have is you are trying to grow 6 plants in the
space that one can easily outgrow without a heavy hand with the pruning
shears. If it was me trying to grow a lot of pumpkins and have them just be
large and not truly giant, I would pull up all but the most vigourous plant
and then set as many pumpkins as possible on that one. By having multiple
fruit on one plant you will moderate their growth somewhat, and by having
just that one you will be able to keep it in bounds somewhat so you can move
around in your patch without stepping on pumpkins and vines. If you don't
prune off the tertiary vines you'll be doing that anyway. I heard that Kelp
is the fastest growing plant on earth, but I have a feeling that the people
who made that observation never watched an AG growing in July.
