Jeff,

My daughter works at TruGreen*ChemLawn, and although they don't treat for
Moles, they often have customers asking how to get rid of them. Along with
those mentioned before by Ken (poison, traps, guns, etc) she told me of a
unique way to eliminate moles. Locate several of the holes so that way you
can get them coming and going. Grab a couple packs of JUICYFRUIT gum and
start chewing. Chew the gum until it is soft, but still flavorful and
smells sweet. Place the now chewed gum into the opening of the mole holes.
The moles are highly attracted to the scent of the gum and head towards that
(as opposed to your plants). The catch is this...moles like the scent of
the gum, they go after it and try to eat it, however they are unable to
digest it. It works along the theory of the hairball, they cant digest it
and eventually die from eating the chewing gum. End result...dead mole, and
dead moles cant hurt your pumpkin plants!
My daughter also brought home an informational sheet on moles. It is from
Plant Diagnostic Labratories (PDL) and outlines not only a discription of
moles, and damage they can do, but also a few different ways to control
them. Anyone interested, email me privately.

Good Luck all
Joe H
