Big T,
   The light green with  darker green stripes is not necessasarily a squash. 
Sometimes these turn out to be pumpkins or the light ones considered to be 
pumpkins at the competitions. Hang in there for a couple weeks....if it 
remains green you've got a squash. I am watching two plants right now with 
the same characteristics.
