Re: I have to rest for a while !!
How big are the plants and how close to each other are they ?
I have done it before and it was successful. The one I moved had about a 2' vine already It may not break 1000 pounds but the plant can survive.
Use a full size shovel and gently dig around it as far away from the stump as you can. Your bound to break roots which will set you back a bit but if
that's what you have to do, that's what you have to do.
After you dig around it, pull some soil away, trying not to disturb the soil immediately around the plant too much.
Pull enough soil away from the plant to slip a thin piece of plywood under the bottom as deep as you can handle. Wrap the rest of the soil around the
stump with burlap or plastic. Get another person to help you lift the whole mess from the other side and walk it over to the other site holding the
burlap and plywood together as best as you can. If it has a vine, be sure to support it. Get another body if you have to. ( have the other site
already prepared ).
Basically plant it like you would any transplant. Give it some water or water with fish emulsion and water it every day.
It will droop for a day or two and should survive. It's not the best plan but it can be done.
The one I moved had about a 2' square chunk of soil around it which I was able to keep fairly intact. It was a three person job.
Good luck,
Bob.
