Late Start
Thanks. This is my first year growing the atlantic
giant. I bought 7 seeds (671 dill) from Howard Dill
ENterprise. Two of them came up so I had no
difficulty deciding which two to use! I think the
seeds were ok though because I dug up on the failed
hill and found that one was growing but i had
accidentally planted it too deep. (I knew it was only
supposed to be an inch.)
Last year I grew jack o lanterns and my step-dad
jokingly asked if i was going to try to grow huge
pumpkins like on that old miracle gro commercial. So
one time when I was on the internet I did a search on
"giant pumpkins" and found out about the atlantic
giant pumpkin and how much time some people spend on
it.
Those jack o lanterns started out slow too but once
they started I think the vines grew 20 feet in about a
two week span. I was wondering if I could expect the
same sort of spurt from these plants.
