I don't freeze the males but I refrigerate the pollen.
My first year I had females when there were no males available,
so now I take no chances. I pick the males early, while they're
fresh, scrape the pollen into a small plastic container, cover
and refrigerate. That way when a female opens you can brush
it on or pour it on. Lots of pollen that way. So far it's
been 100% germination for me. It hasn't given me a thousand
pounder yet, but maybe this year.
