I am very depressed after a relatively small ground hog
literally squeezed through a 12 gauge fence with 11/2"x 3" gaps (really
unbelievable if you would have seen the size of the ground hog). He was stuck in
the patch and had trouble getting out and almost got stuck). I don't have the
heart to kill them. He/she ate 2' off both the 771 and 789 plants and tips to 1'
off most secondaries. I've kept the borers at bay, devastated by deer last year
and ground hogs in 1999. Don't know what to say. I'll just let them grow out and
see what happens. Too many animals where we live near some very large woods.
