Re: SE MN update! Back on track and pollinating!

Hey David,

You got quite the 'patch' of pumpkins growing.  You have some great prospects.  I am growing the 691 Nesbitt for 'color' also this year.  I thought it would be fun for a change to get a nice deep, orange, red pumpkin.

Subject: SE MN update! Back on track and pollinating!

Howdy from SE MN!
After a cold start, we really heated up with 90 degree weather and growth.  Had 8" of rain in 1 week!
Here is the status, I have added to an earlier post of what I am planting:

#1 - 723 Bhaskaran 01 - I usually grow the main seed I have given away.
This is a  850 Wallace 00  x 400 Reynolds 00 (929 Kuhn 97 x 760 Patrick 99!)
Status: Pollinated on 6/17 with 691 Nesbitt on main vine...Main vine just snapped 2ft after pumpkin....850 Wallace did this last year to me also.

#2 - 1230 Daletas 01
Status: 27" leaves....long main vine...ready to throw a baby pumpkin blossom!

#3, #4 - 760 Patrick 99 - 2 more attempts with a GREAT Orange seed stock!
This is a 801.5 Stelts x self!
Status: Much further ahead than usual, normal plants for a change.

#5 - 691 Nesbitt 00 - 801.5 Stelts x sibbed.  Love that 801.5 for color!
Status: Biggest plant...pollination should be in 2-3 days.

#6 - 731 Stucker 00 - 801.5 Stelts x sibbed.
Status: Another 12-14ft main vine....no babies yet!

#7 - 847.5  Christiansen 01  - (867 Mombert x 825.5 Shymanski) - a new mix!
Status: A 4" flat vine...will be interesting to keep from problems.

#8 - 912 Holland 01 -  567.5 Mombert x 801.5 Stelts.  This is also a VERY orange pumpkin..this is the 940 Mombert 00 genetics.
Status: Was almost ready to kill it as it looked very deformed...then flat vined and split into 2 main vines.

Kids Patch:
Tasha Bhaskaran:
486 T. Bhaskaran 01 - 760 Patrick 99 x 947.2 Patrick 99 ...she likes orange and wants to plant "her" pumpkin.
Status: Should be ready to pollinate in 3-4 days.

Nick Bhaskaran:
568 N. Bhaskaran 01 (UOW) - 850 Wallace 00 x 910 Stellpflug 00 - This was a "white" pumpkin but split close to weigh off. Will be an interesting mix...the 850 was the fastest growing plant and largest plant I have ever seen.
Status: Another 850 Wallace and again it has snapped the main vine!   Very weird about the 850 Wallace genetics and me.   Should pollinate 2 pumpkins before hit end of Main Vine. (One tommorrow)  Also big plant and very big leaves...close to 1230.

All for now, wishing you all a great June!
