RE: Leaf Flagging

I have to agree that the genetics must have something to do with this as I have 4 plants I planted the same day (Hunt 991, Emmons 1144, Pugh 874and the Kennedy 779.5) and all but the Kennedy are handling the heat as far a leaf burn. They are all on the same watering program and in the same soil PH. I have to think it is a problem with the plant and not the environment. I am afraid I will lose this plant is things don’t change. It is on of my biggest plants, I am considering putting up shade but don’t know if the expense added to what I have already spent and am going to spend in the future will make it worth wile especially if the plant dies anyway

Bernie:
Some plants can take the heat others can't.The 723 seems to me can't take the stress if it's over 85.Today when i arrived home i discovered i lost 3 or so leafs to heat stress,The smaller leafs looked VERY droopy, even after i called my son and asked him to give each plant a shower for five minutes at one hour intervals. They still burned a few leafs. If i knew it was going to be this hot i would have rigged up a shade structure for the vine tips.Hope this helped.John
