First fruit

Hello List-
I have a few questions from a newbie in Western Montana.
Today I have my first female on one of my two plants. The vine is only
about 3' long. I thought I saw\heard a recommended length the first
fruit should be away from the base, any thoughts?
The plant has only been in the ground a couple weeks, so I would guess
the roots are still establishing, should feeding change? I fed once
20-20-20 and once with 10-52-10. Maybe this isn't even an issue if this
fruit should not be kept this early?
Looking for help.........
Thank you.
