You said you split your stem lengthwise to relieve stress, is this
protocol? My stem split from excessive wind. It was about 4" long and
about 1/4" wide. I pasted some captan on the split and wrapped some
landscape fabric around it and stapled the fabric shut. The pumpkin is
happy and growing but I am worried about the split. So my main question
is-what do you do with and how do you maintain split stems? Will I still
be able to grow a big pumpkin. Can this part be buried after it dries?
