Another way to anchor your vines is sticks in an "X" shape over them.  You
can use regular sticks from the yard, but that is hit or miss sometimes.  I
like to use chop sticks from the local Chinese restaurant.  You could also
use Popsicle sticks, but they might be too short.

metal coat hangers, bend them in a U shape and press them into the soil
trapping the vine.
