Re: Calcium Chelate


Epsom Salt is really magnesium sulfate. I'd use it only if your soil is
deficient in magnesium. For example, my heavy clay soil is loaded
with potassium and magnesium. There was a discussion on this list
earlier this year about high levels of magnesium and potassium
hindering the uptake of calcium, which may keep pumpkin weights
down. Makes sense to me, because my own pumpkin last year
weighed very light to the charts.

Kevin,

I meant to ask you yesterday, I went out looking for Calcium Chelate at
my local gardening store after reading your posting on Epsom salt, but
to no avail. Id did find it online in tablet form for human consumption.
In what form do you apply, and where does one find it? (and what does
one use it for?)
