strange bug-please don't laugh

Okay, please bear with me.
I have a new bug in the garden, and don't know what to do with it.
( I know warrior T will kill anything, but I like my butterflies, bees and
hummingbirds)
It is oval, just a little bigger than a ladybug, but flatter. It has a
transparent shell on the outside edge, and the only way I can describe the
markings, is that it's dark and looks like a turtle shape. It flies, and is
chewing good size holes in my leaves.
Any ideas on what it might be??
I've been calling it the turtlebug, but that's just because of the markings,
buts it's a pretty tough little bug!!
