Re: Top Ten growers

Hi Don,

Size isn't everything, but in this sport weight matters and the
top growers grow the heaviest pumpkins. The best growers in my
mind also promote the sport and are involved in the mechanix of
the weigh-offs. (and some have very curious personalities)

With that in mind, I came up with this all time list for CA:

1. Pete Glasier (1,096, 931, 854)
(Pete gave Greg the plant that grew Greg's 1,105)
2. Greg Stucker (1,105, 963)
3. Jack Vezzollo (1,066, 903)
4. Jon Hunt (991)
5. Gary Miller (984, 865, 831)
6. Chris Anderson (977)
7. Ray Barenchi (977, 954)
8. Mike Brock (945, 839)
9. Vince Zunino (971UOW, 910, 889)
10 Ken Mitchell (842, 748)

If you want to list only current and active growers. You can
eliminate Chris Anderson who has moved out of the state and
possibly Jon who is still active promoting the sport but hasn't
grown them for several years. Then I would add:

Loren Vanderschoot (833.5) and
Eric Carlson (823)

Eric has been a competitive grower for over 10 years in Cal.
and held the state record in 1994.

My two cents....
