Leaf/Insect Problem?

The leaves of one of my pumpkin plants where severely eaten up during a
two day period (This plant is about 50 miles from where I live, and was
fine 2 days prior.) This picture was taken after I dusted the plant with
Sevin. Does anyone recognize this type of damage? Is this recoverable?
