Pumpkins in New Zealand
Hi Team
Just a note to say goodbye.
A lot of things are changing here in a very positive way and I am off to
other things after finishing a Masters degree after some years. All our
events will now be managed by somebody else and it been decided that the
pumpkin festival will be 'rested' for a year or two.
I have to say that I have really enjoyed being part of the world wide
pumpkin team for some years even though our season is in your 'off season'
so a lot of us do not communicate. I have enjoyed watching the emails for
the last six years or so.
Part of the privilege of looking after recreation is that in twenty years
time, some people in their thirty something's will walk into the park and
say "do you remember the giant pumpkins? weren't they great, we had a
marvelous time as a family growing them". Then they will do it all again
with their new families and teach children that growing pumpkins means
growing families. That is when we record the 'profit' of doing what we do
for a hobby.
God bless you all
John Sargeant in New Zealand.
