There is never a good day for a giant pumpkin grower. Only a
few days which are just a little bit bad punctuate the rest -
which are really bad ones.
First a mole went directly under and around pretty Lilu (1048
Companion) one night. I found her in the morning flat on her
back sobbing softly. Her roots were badly damaged but she was
still loosely connected to mother earth.
Then my best plant (1230 Daletas) in my other mound went double
vine - and not just a little but full throttle... My backup
plant there is a 1016 Daletas which is one quarter the size of
this aggressive giant. Really a story of David and Goliath
here. I've renamed the 1016 "Little David" because he may take
out Goliath in spite of his abnormally enthusiastic growth
rate.
All out war on the infidel moles was declared to avenge the
rape of Lilu - which is a bloody mess and I'm losing.... (I
feel like a Bush) I'm losing to all the rodents by the way. A
rat got into my sugar snap peas and ate the first 2 inches of
each stem along 10 feet of trellis - killing them all.... I
planted a little flower garden with my daughter and the next
day a gopher popped up out of nowhere and ate half of it...
I never want to be a farmer - too masochistic for me...
To see the tottlers Lilu, Little David (and Goliath for the
time being) go to this link:

Lilu has mostly recovered by the way and is still out-growing
Little David in spite of the injury to her roots. I may do a
cam on this pretty little plant if I can find the time...
