  Hi k,
   Light rains you're ok heavy downpours can ruffle up the leaves some if
it's hot and humid as soon as there's a break spray some fungicide to help
prevent powdery mildew as far as trying to cover the plant you might try
some shade cloth to slow the rain down to lessen damage  deb and randy

Unaccustomed as we are to getting rain at this point in the season, we don't
know what to do to protect our plants. Do we need special protection for the
blossoms? For the pumpkins? The stump?
