Steve,
I had one a couple weeks ago in the same location as yours. Filled it with
Captan paste and put a twist tie (bread bag wrapper) around it to hold it
together. As of today the healing process was doing very well. A lengthwise
split on a vine is not terribly critical, a cross split and spell disaster.

Subject: Main Vine Splits - any hope?
Hi,
I've gotten vine splits in the Main just a few inches from the stump in 3
of
my 5 plants. Is there any hope for the plant? Can I just bury the vine at
the
split part and move on or does the split take too much from the plant?
Love to hear to some experiences with this and how you handled it.
Thanks
Steve
