Re: the plague!!!

I am very late in planting this year, however the weather has finally warmed up and I plan on transplanting some of my babies this weekend if the first true leaves are formed.  Unfortunately, my garden isn't big enough and at least two plants will have to grow out into the yard.  Should I do anything to the grass area in preparation?  Right now there is clover in the grass and I am not sure of bugs except for some ants which I eradicated (hopefully).  I do plan on building mounds for them when I transplant the seedlings.  

I am a bit worried after reading the post on cucumber beetles/vine borers.  I think I may have had them last year, but really don't know what to look for.  From the books I have read and people I have talked with, it sounds like I need to be on the look out from the git go.  After transplanting, what should be my game plan regarding feeding and disease/insect control?

I know my emails are lengthy, but I want to do the best I can this year.  Thanks for bearing with me.
