Well it is my turn to be bummed.
The Greer 1006 is the fastest growing of the four plants I have. The main
vine is growing 10" a day and it is out 52" as of this morning.
I do not know if this is going to be a genetic trait of the plant or not
but it would appear that the leaf stems and leafs are to big and heavy for
the young main vine.
I have built more than an adequate enough wind shelter, yesterday I found a
split at the 4th leaf axle, it went slightly into the main vine but did not
penetrate. Today I found a severe split beneath the second true leaf axle,
this one would appear to have gone into the main vine.
I don't know if I am doing something wrong, I have only just been able to
bury a foot or so of main vine, the remainder still has not settled on the
ground.
Cut off 3 leafs, made paste of captan for splits in the main vine.
I think I may very well be doomed with this plant and the season has just
started!
Bummed!
