Re: Female Flowers

Hi Eric

I use pieces of covered clothes hanger wire bent in a U shape. I also bury
the vines as do most growers I believe. My longest vine is 41" today {from
the point where the seed leaves are attached, to the tip (in a straight
line)}. This is a 6" increase in one day.

I would be interested to know what shape your balls are (hee hee).
Seriously though, if you had to describe the baby pumkins as more round or
more oblong, which would it be? I am interested in the shape because I have
heard different theories on which shape has the best potential for
developing into a b ig one.

If there is anyone out there who has any ideas on this or could tell me what
the preferred shape is, I would appreciate it. I have two plants left
growing from the same "hill' and must soon make the "final cut". Since they
are so close in progress, I may wait till I see the shape of the first baby
pumpkins to help me decide.

What would you experts out there do if you were me?

PS: Eric, be careful not to break those vines when you pin them down!
Don't use to much force. Better to wait till they start to fall down naturally.
