Hi Kurt, I am a new 1st time grower and have planted the 1006. Maybe
the manure mix was too fresh, or maybe the sun was too hot, but the first
week of transplant was bad .... leaves looked burned and color was off.
they drooped. I tarped the plant, then a friend rototilled again and I
added some peat moss to lighten the soil. This was virgin soil top
soil plus manure mix... 15 yards. I also added some dried blood. Plants
new leaves look healthy and vine is growing. I will fertilize
with miracle grow this weekend. Also I have a flower. If you would be
kind enough to give me your comments on what I've done wrong so far I
would appreciate it... oh by the way I added a root feeder hose
and a soaker hose to get the water in there. Please be candid
with your comments and suggestions... Specifically I am wondering if
the peat moss was the right thing to add to lighten up the soil texture.
My email is th77@columbia.edu. Thanks and hope to hear from you Kurt
and anyone else who can help me.
