Kurt,
   20" is very close to the base. You are so early to be setting fruit that
you might consider setting the next one that comes along. If you set one now
, it would be on the vine 110 days!!!! I have never heard of a pumpkin
growing that long on a vine. The Pacific Northwest growers have a longer ,
slower grow because of the cool weather but that seems too long. I would ask
Joel, he knows more about length of season out there. In southern New
England, we are good for about 80 days max.
