Re: "Plant Affairs"


Michael,
     I have had experience with pumpkin 'blind dates'.
Last year I went to LaRue's patch (7 miles away) about 9am his wife and I
picked a stud and brought him to my place for the date with one of the
girls in my patch. I transported the male flower in a paper lunch sack.
There was pollen to spare in the bottom of the bag when we got done with
the ritual. We had a nice 600 + pumpkin from the ordeal. Sherry LaRue was
going to experiment with freezing pollen from last season and using it this
season to see if it works. I'll keep the list posted if she follows
