Why buy plants when you can grow them yourself.....?

Hi Duncan,

I live in Anchorage, Alaska. Would you know of any books that give details
on growing pumpkins in zone 3? I started my seeds indoors, and they are now
outside on small mounds. They are about ten inches tall and are starting to
get vines maybe three to four inches long. Are they where they need to be to
produce fruit by early September? If not is there anything I can do to help
them? I have put IRT cloth over the mounds, but that's all. I have
considered building a cold frame around them but I just don't know how big
they should be, and I don't want to fix something that might not be
broken!!!!

Thanks-
Peg:)
