Seaweed?

Well, I have been so busy with pumpkin stuff I haven't had time to write much
on the list, so here is my contribution of a topic! What does everyone here
think of foliar sprays of seaweed on pumpkin plants?
I used it last year and it seemed to boost the performance of my Burpee
Prizewinner, (but I didn't have any controls to compare to). It saved my
watermelons life after it was (I thought) dead because of an infestation of
aphids that even blasts of water or rotenone wouldn't get rid of. It was
before a frost so I sprayed it on several things and the watermelon actually
came back to life with new growth. It was weird.
Anyway seaweed is also supposed to protect from frost damage by changing the
cellular activity of the leaves or something, as well as add hundreds of trace
elements and growth promoting hormones. It has been proven in controlled
studues to DOUBLE cucumber yields with just one foliar application at
flowering time, and increase bean yeilds by 10%, increase corn ear sixe by 10%
(although the quantity of ears was slightly reduced). Anyway I was wondering
what everyone thought of it's effect on pumpkins?
