Re[2]: Sympathy? and a Social science question

Jon,

I agree with the Pumpkin Flower. I would also rather call it a hobby
instead of a sport. This is my third year growing these yard
eating things, but it is fun, who needs a back yard, anyway?? Leave
it up to the men to think of pumpkin growing as a sport!! :-) It is
just plain fun.

BTW, Jon, where about in Elk Grove do you live? We have several of us
in Elk Grove also.

Jon,
I'm only on my second year growing (hardly a heavy hitter) but I'm giving
it my best shot.
You can count me as a white female.
Really don't like calling it a sport !!
I want to grow a big one or the sake of growing the biggist one I can. I
have loved pumpkins since a child , Don't know why...I don't grow to
compete, BUT I would like to have a nice one just to participate with the
other growers at Toppsfield Fair.
Prefer to call it a hobby ,PLEASE.!!
Sport to me means competition, and that would take the fun out of it .
