I started all my seeds on April 5th and began transplanting them on
April 13th, one each day until the 5 were all in their own mini
greenhouse surrounded by 2 &1/2 feet of snow. I used heat tapes and
light bulbs and manually regulated the temperatures during the day by
adjusting vents. Maybe someday I will install temperature sensitive
openers such as the ones that Bill Kournikakis from Medicine Hat Alberta
uses. He is very pleased with them and I'm sure they can eliminate
potential problems with heat build up.
Perhaps you could say I was fortunate this year to have the time to
monitor them since our Bowater newsprint mill was down for 3 weeks for
lack of orders. No money coming in but lots of time to coax my plants
along.....It's a fun year so far....but far from over...Ken
