Re: Hail

Thanks for the Info! I kind of went numb when I walked out to the patch
yesterday morning. Everything was going so good until this point... My
daughter took some pictures of the hail on the ground and saved some in
a bag in the freezer(I was at work at the time). Indeed they ranged in
size from a marble up to an 1 1/2". I am, in a way, kind of glad I
wasn't home to see it. They probably would have been dialing 911!!
I had a chance to look at the patch a little closer after work yesterday
and spray the affected plats with fugicide. Only one plant had the end
of the main vine broken off completely(815 Checkon). The 780 Eaton with
the 8' mainhad the secondary broken off but the main only has a few
nicks in it with about 4leaves broken off and 6 more pretty well
shredded but still standing tall. The 881 Dill has a hole punched
straight through the main about 8' from the growing end but it apeears
to be surving well. I'll keep it sprayed with fungicide and bury it as
soon it grows ouut a bit more. The other plant affected tyhe 634
Chrispell was damaged on the main but not broken off. I plan to not
terminate it at this time. It has a real strong secondary vine.
I'll keep everyone posted on the outcome.
THANKS AGAIN for the reassurance, I'm going out to fertilize now!
