The dreaded ribbon vine?

I have four plants growing in a small patch. I know I will have to narrow
the number down. Two of the plants are from identical seeds. One of the two
has developed the dreaded ribbon vine. From reading past messages, I infer
that this is not desirable. Will someone enlighten me?
The four plants all appear to be doing well. Drought conditions are
requiring almost daily watering. Almost no rain in three weeks. Otherwise,
temps seem good. Warm days with nights around 60F. No blossoms open yet.
This is my FIRST year with AG's. My plot is in my back yard at the bottom of
a hill. It is mostly clay and rocks. I have improved it somewhat with
organic amendments but it is still a poor site.
On many of these hot days the winds are 15-20 mph with higher gusts. All
have survived without damage so far. But, it is frightening to see the large
leaves flapping in the strong breeze.
If I do get a big one, what is a practical way to move and weigh it?
Plants are growing toward the boundary and I am training them with hoops made
from pieces of insulated wire from some 12/2 electrical wire I had left over.
The weather conditions here are reported to be hotter and drier than normal
for this time of year. I believe it!!
