Short of that, try outdoor ant bait, that way no chemical gets spread and
since they feed it to each other and the queen, it should have a drasitc
impact on colonies.
How do ants kill trees, exactly? You mean the big ones that nest in decaying
wood in trees? Try dsuting with diatomacious earth (a natural non-chemical
product whoch is actually fossilized miroscopic organisms which have
miro-sharp points (too small for poeple or mammals to feel), but irritate
insects bodies and digestive tract. Also try ant bait, once again, and maybe
wrap the tree in sticky bands.
