Hi everyone,
Here is the latest on the Vermonster:
Main vine is 7 1/2 feet long with female flower and pea
sized pumpkin at 6 feet. I have burried the main vine
from the one foot mark out to the three foot mark. If I set
the pumpkin at the six foot mark am I going to wish I
hadn't burried the main at all? I probably won't set at six
foot anyway because I think it will open before July.
I have burried three side vines (coming off the main) from
the main vine to 15 inches from their tips. The side vines
are between 3 and 5 feet long. There are a couple
shorter ones that I have not begun to bury yet.
I am burying the side vines completely......placing the soil
about 1/2 inch deep over the vine. It looks neat with
just the
leaves sticking out of the ground, hope it works.
The largest leaf is 21 inches across, and there is about
35 to 40 leaves on the plant, depending if you count the
baby ones or not.
How about anyone elses One-Ton-Crosses? Am I keeping
pace?
80 degrees, and dry here.
